Thigh chafing is the worst. We get it - lose weight and the chafing will stop. I disagree with this statement that my dermatologist gave me years ago. Thighs and body shape don’t have to be overweight to rub together and cause friction and chafe. Our legs are side by side - it’s only natural that they rub.
Ok, so how do I stop the chafe?!
Days out in the sun or heat would be much better with one less thing to worry about. The worse chafing spots become, the more painful the area is. You have 3 options.
1. Cover your thighs
This option is a solid way to stop the chafe. If you’re wearing yoga pants instead of shorts, the area is protected with fabric. I always hear “but my shorts/dresses are so cute, I want to wear those!” I agree. So keep reading.
2. Use baby powder to dry up the area
This sounds great in theory but there are a few key flaws. First, the sheet embarrassment of the baby powder smell. When using it, I might as well hold up a sign that says my thighs are chafing. Another key thing to look out for on the ingredient list is talc. Baby powder companies have been getting sued over the links to cancer. Is stopping chafing worth getting cancer over? I think not.
The last pitfall of using powder is the frequent need to reapply. When it is hot out, you sweat which turns the powder into paste and it is no longer effective.ive had to reapply in Uber’s and turned the whole back seat a powdery white. Oops so much for getting a 5 star rating.
3. Use a cream to lubricate the area
This option is my vote. You don’t have to worry about powder getting moist again because cream is already moist! It is the moisture and lubrication of the cream that reduces friction of your thighs. Thus, application is required less frequently.
Last note: Be careful of ingredients! Make sure you get a product that is all natural to avoid repeated exposure to harmful chemicals, especially talc. Love your body and ensure that you’re protecting it with using the best ingredients, and avoiding harsh chafing. Our Silk Rub products achieve all of this in one stop - and naturally smells good!
